Janice “Jan” Smith Reynolds of Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Jan was born on September 2, 1943 in Streator Illinois, to Oliver and Emma Smith. Jan attended Lostant Elementary and Lostant High School. She received a two-year certificate of Secretarial Studies from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
In September 1966 Jan married Gordon Reynolds. Together for 56 years life took them from Lostant, Illinois to the cities of Chicago, St Louis, Bloomington, Illinois and finally to Germantown, Tennessee where they spent most of their life until moving to Ocala, Florida in 2013.
Together they had two children – Jennifer and Gregory. Jan was a stay-at-home mom until her kids graduated from high school when she went to work for various companies. After 11 years Jan retired from AC Humko as an HR manager. She enjoyed Bible studies, arts & crafts, sewing, cooking, traveling and playing games with friends, kids and grandkids.
Jan was born and raised in the Lutheran church and ensured her two children would be raised in the church as well. Recently she became a member of Ocala West United Methodist Church. She used her talents to sew beanie caps for cancer patients, gowns for babies in Africa, and quilt tops for those in need.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon; children, Jennifer (Craig) Bush and Gregory (Robin) Reynolds; grandchildren, Alex Bush, Ashley Bush, Joshua Diemer; brother LaVerne (JoAnn) Smith and many nieces and nephews.
Jan frequently attended Atonement when she was in the area along with Gordon, their children Greg and Robin, and grandson Joshua.
