WELCA’s Christmas Project #2 is the Reverse Advent Calendar.  ‘What is a Reverse Advent Calendar’, you may ask?  Typically, Advent calendars are filled with candy, and you open one each day starting December 1 and ending on Christmas Day. Reverse advent calendars allow you to donate or give something each day – thus giving instead of getting.

The last few years WELCA’s Reverse Advent Calendar benefited our Helping Hands Food Pantry.  Now that the pantry has ceased operation, this year’s Reverse Advent Calendar recipient will be the Thomas Promise Foundation, 4542 Gall Blvd Zephyrhills. The Thomas Promise Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing weekend bags filled with six meals and snacks to food-insecure children in Pasco County Florida schools. Each week, these essential bags are delivered to 1,500 children.  www.thethomaspromise.org

In the past, our Reverse Advent Calendar asked for donated items for our pantry.  This year, WELCA is asking our Atonement congregation to support our Reverse Advent Calendar project monetarily…….donate $1 a day for the days of Advent beginning December 1st  and ending Christmas Day…...for the Thomas Promise Foundation.  Donations may be placed in the donation box or sent to the church.   Make checks to Atonement Lutheran Church with ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ in the memo line.  Please support WELCA’s Christmas Project #2 and help Pasco County’s most valuable resources, our school children.
